Two men were arrested on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and others during a pub crawl in Lowell aimed at college seniors. The wild scene included a filled major street in Lowell and the closure of a restaurant and bar.

The western Massachusetts town made famous by Norman Rockwell plans to band thin-film plastic bags from store checkout counters and also polystyrene containers that many restaurants use for takeout food and leftovers from meals. "This is a very important issue, but this is just the beginning," a Stockbridge selectman said.
