Walsh taps DNC data expert to lead Boston analytics team

BOSTON – City Hall is about to get even more data-driven as Boston Mayor Marty Walsh named Andrew Therriault, a Democratic National Committee employee, as his first chief data officer.
Therriault, the director of data science at the DNC in Washington, will lead Walsh's data analytics team, which combines modern data analysis and visualizations to help city managers and the mayor keep track of operations. One example is the city's recently unveiled data dashboard that details the demographics of the city workforce and provides a way to examine pay ranges and employment longevity.
