US Treasury urged to probe company building MBTA railcars

STATE HOUSE — Dozens of members of Congress have asked U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew for an investigation into the Chinese railcar company building Red and Orange line subway cars for the MBTA.

The China Railroad Rolling Stock Corporation, or CRRC, has used subsidized financing from the Chinese government to "underbid private competitors" for contracts in Boston and Chicago, the 55 members of Congress wrote in a letter dated July 15.

Mass. House gets behind statewide ticket for blocking bike lanes

STATE HOUSE — A quilt-work of penalties for parking in bike lanes would be replaced with a blanket statewide ticket of up to $100 under a bill that passed the House on Monday.

The bill (H 3072) filed by Rep. David Rogers, a Cambridge Democrat, would bar drivers from parking or standing in marked bicycle lanes or lanes designated to be shared by bikes and cars.
