US economy slowed as 2015 came to a close, report shows

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. economy's growth slowed sharply in the final three months of last year to a 0.7 percent annual rate, the Commerce Department reported Friday. Consumers slowed spending, businesses cut back on investment and global problems trimmed exports.

The slowdown could renew doubts about the durability of the 6½-year-old economic expansion, though most economists expect growth to rebound in the current January-March quarter.

(CNSNews.com) — The percentage of American wage and salary workers who belonged to a union was only 11.1 percent in 2015, but the percentage of union members who worked for government was 48.9 percent, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"The union membership rate–the percent of wage and salary workers who were members of unions–was 11.1 percent in 2015, unchanged from 2014," the BLS said in press release published today.
