Tuition frozen for 2016-17 at state universities, colleges

BOSTON – Tuition costs at state universities and community colleges won't change in the next academic year, state policy makers decided Tuesday, but students could still face higher fees and other expenses once those rates are set this spring on local campuses.

The decision doesn't affect tuition rates for University of Massachusetts campuses, however.

Tribe eyes possible April groundbreaking on Taunton casino

While gaming regulators review a proposed commercial casino in Brockton, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is eyeing April 5 as a "possible date" to break ground on its resort casino in Taunton.

The tribe announced Monday that it has selected Dimeo Construction Company, The Penta Building Group and Talako Construction LLC — companies with experience in the casino construction industry — to begin pre-construction demolition and site work need to construct the First Light Resort & Casino.
