Trump Can Withhold Federal Grant Funds To Massachusetts Cities That Disobey Federal Immigration Laws, Court Rules
A federal court has ruled that President Donald Trump's administration is allowed to withhold law enforcement grant money to jurisdictions in seven states that are refusing to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, including three New England states.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan on Wednesday, February 26 overruled a lower court that said the administration had to release funding it is withholding from communities in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Rhode Island, according to Reuters.
