Tons of thanks as Franciscans provide turkeys to Boston’s needy

BOSTON – Supplying food to the needy took on a special meaning this week at St. Anthony Shrine at 100 Arch St. in downtown Boston, where food bank customers on Monday took home about 10 tons of victuals, including whole turkeys, just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Supplies came from the Greater Boston Food Bank, a nonprofit hunger-relief organization, and private donors. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh helped hand out the festive items, along with volunteers and the Franciscan Friars who run the ministry.
