No one could have imagined the significance of that first gathering, held in a kitchen, over the north side of Dublin, on a Saturday… September 25, 1976, to be precise. Equipped with makeshift instruments and make-believe invincibility — admittedly with more ambition than ability — four teenage friends, known simply as Paul, Dave, Larry and Adam, formed a collective that would eventually be called U2.

Guv, lawmakers team up to name bridge in honor of Big Papi

BOSTON, SEPT. 29. 2016……As the Red Sox make their way into the postseason as division champions, fans making their way to Fenway Park could soon be doing so by walking across the David Ortiz 'Big Papi' Bridge.

Legislation attached to a spending bill now before the state House of Representatives would rename the Boston bridge that carries Brookline Avenue over the Massachusetts Turnpike and a set of railroad tracks in honor of the retiring Red Sox designated hitter.
