The Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne has launched a training facility on its campus for building offshore wind turbines with about $1.73 million in grants from the state and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
The training platform at the end of a pier on the Cape Cod Canal includes rails and ladders descending into the water designed to help train cadets at the academy as well as current professional welders, divers, and electricians, according to The Cape Cod Times.
Massachusetts slipped to 36th among states in a business tax climate index released this week by a foundation that promotes lower tax burdens, raising questions about the state's business investment appeal.
