Challenges facing sheriffs because of "lax immigration enforcement rules" will be the subject of a press briefing in Bourne Wednesday morning scheduled by Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings. In an advisory, the sheriff's office said Cummings plans to use an inmate at the Barnstable House of Correction as a "specific example" of the challenges.
Critics and supporters of the ridesharing industry will have to wait until September for a public hearing on bills to regulate Uber, Lyft and other services, but the controversy that such services has generated will play out at the local level Tuesday in Braintree.
