New Rx monitoring system to allow state-to-state info sharing

STATE HOUSE — A new version of the state's prescription monitoring system is scheduled to go live next week after more than $6 million in upgrades, according to the Massachusetts Medical Society, which described the program as a key tool to fight misuse of prescription drugs.

The statewide physicians association is urging all health care providers to enroll in the updated program, called the Massachusetts Prescription Awareness Tool, or MassPAT.

Future for MBTA parts warehouse a subject of debate

STATE HOUSE — MBTA inventory workers giving a tour around the central warehouse earlier this summer paused for a moment, moving to the side of an enclosed alley to make room for a forklift passing through.

The hallway is the only indoor connection between the loading dock and the main warehouse, according to workers there. After about 15 seconds of beeping and whirring tires, the forklift was clear and the tour resumed.
