Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk is set to buy Twitter for $44 billion, as many media outlets reported on Monday.
Musk is purchasing Twitter at least in part because he feels as though it is not committed enough to free speech. In the wake of the news on Monday afternoon, April 25, he tweeted, "I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means."
