Massachusetts Inmates Can Soon Make Free Calls From Jail

Inmates in state prisons and county jails in Massachusetts are set to be able to make free telephone calls starting Friday, December 1.

Governor Maura Healey has signed into law a bill requiring corrections officials to provide inmates "with voice communication services, including phone calls, free of charge to the person initiating and the person receiving the communication."
