Mass. Muslims push agenda with first ‘Day on the Hill’

STATE HOUSE — The Bay State Muslim community on Thursday sought to assert itself at the State House in the areas of housing, schools and criminal justice.

"We are numerous, we are well-resourced, and we are involved in the highest levels in social justice organizing, so it makes sense that we would also be showing up at the State House," Nadeem Mazen told the News Service.

MCAS 2.0 called for by Bay State ed chief Chester

BOSTON – A "next-generation MCAS" is the route Massachusetts should take in choosing its new standardized student assessment program, Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester announced Tuesday.

The new test would include items from both the MCAS and PARCC exams, along with questions specifically developed for Massachusetts, according to Chester's recommendations.
