Mass. drivers would have to put devices down under bill on Senate agenda

STATE HOUSE — On the heels of a 2010 law that one senator calls a "mess," the Senate next week is set to consider a bill banning driving while holding a handheld electronic device.

The 2010 law banned texting while driving but distracted driving associated with the use of electronic devices remains a safety issue as drivers continue to simultaneously use their hands, eyes and brains to simultaneously use increasingly capable smartphones and navigate the roads of Massachusetts.

Planned Parenthood sues activists who made undercover videos

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Planned Parenthood sued anti-abortion activists who produced undercover videos targeting the handling of fetal tissue at some of the organization's clinics, alleging extensive criminal misconduct by the producers in papers filed in federal court Thursday.

"The people behind this fraud lied and broke the law in order to spread malicious lies about Planned Parenthood," said Dawn Laguens, the organization's executive vice president. "This lawsuit exposes the elaborate, illegal conspiracy designed to block women's access to safe and legal abortion."
