Angela Davis Donating Her Papers To Harvard
Matthew McDonaldAngela Davis, 74, is donating her papers to the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, a research library at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
Davis is the former head of the Communist Party U.S.A., a retired professor of the University of California at Santa Cruz's History of Consciousness Department, and the former director of the school's Feminist Studies Department; she was tried and acquitted on conspiracy and homicide charges for her alleged role in a 1970 takeover of a courtroom in San Rafael, California by Black Panthers that left four people dead.
