Natural gas customers in the Boston area are now paying more for fuel than their national counterparts, reversing the situation from a year ago.
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers released on Friday, Boston-area customers paid just over $1 per therm for natural gas in June, about 13 percent higher than the national average of 89 cents per therm. In June 2015, local prices were about 85 cents per therm, or nearly 10 percent lower than the national average of 94 cents per therm at that time.
