Groups ask feds to intervene after late-night T cancellation

A complaint filed Tuesday calls on federal transportation officials to require implementation of an alternative to the late-night service scrapped by the MBTA earlier this year, alleging that the cancellation violated anti-discrimination measures.

The complaint was written by the Conservation Law Foundation, Alternatives for Community & Environment, and the Greater Four Corners Action Coalition. Rafael Mares, a transit advocate and vice president at the Conservation Law Foundation, said the groups mailed the complaint to the U.S. Department of Transportation Tuesday afternoon.

BOSTON – In the wake of the recent police shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge, one enterprising musician is using music to bridge the divide between Boston's law enforcement and the city's youth.

Shaw Pong Liu, who has spent the last four months embedded with the Boston Police Department as part of Boston's 2016 Artist-in-Residence program (AIR), started Code Listen, a collaborative music group with the Boston Police department, Teen Empowerment, and other youth organizations.
