Should Massachusetts taxpayers pay for abortions? Pro-life activists say no, and they are hoping to bring a ballot question to voters in 2020.
Several dozen activists gathered on the Massachusetts State House steps Thursday morning to call attention to their signature drive, sponsored by the Massachusetts Alliance to Stop Public Funding of Abortion.
About 500 of the approximately 5,000 licensed lobstermen in Maine have joined the Maine Lobstering Union, trying to increase their share of the state's $1.5 billion industry. Members have to sell their catch to the union at competitive prices, and the union then sells the lobsters to vendors, eliminating the middle man; members also are promised and end-of-the-year dividend from union profits.
