Cape Cod Police Honor Fallen Officer; Surviving Dog To Lead St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Yarmouth Police Department police honored fallen Sergeant Sean Gannon with several posthumous awards on Friday.

Gannon, 32, was shot and killed April 12, 2018 in Marstons Mills on Cape Cod while trying to arrest a career criminal wanted on a warrant.

Now that the landmark 2018 criminal justice reform law is on the books, lawmakers are exploring additional ideas and "even harder work," as state Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) put it Thursday, including the possibility of releasing prisoners serving life-without-parole sentences for the most serious crimes, including murder.
