Baker says North End project a win for Boston

BOSTON – Praising it as the "ultimate win" for Boston, Gov. Charlie Baker joined officials Thursday to break ground on a project that will create 239  units of affordable housing, a parking garage and a 220-room hotel near TD Boston Garden on Causeway Street.

"One of the most important elements here is that we're here to celebrate something that doesn't happen that often, or often enough in Boston or the commonwealth, which is to celebrate the start of a construction project to put substantial housing development in the heart of the city at a price that working people can afford. That is the ultimate win, win, win," Baker said at the ceremonial kick-off of construction on the project.

Some 500 trucks will be treating the city's streets by 6 a.m., Walsh said in a statement issued late Thursday, adding that two truck-mounted snowblowers would be available to clear the roads.
