CLYDE, N.C. (AP) — Part of the Labrador retriever's training was to sense when the demons of war had invaded Wade Baker's dreams.

"I was having a nightmare, a flashback," Baker, a Gulf War veteran, once told an interviewer. "And I woke up with Honor standing on my chest, licking my face."

Rockwell painting delivers windfall for Gardner schools

STATE HOUSE — A valuable 74-year-old painting that hung for years in the principal's office at Gardner High School will soon begin paying dividends for students in that community.

The Massachusetts House late last week passed a bill establishing a scholarship fund, using money from the 2014 sale of a painting that Norman Rockwell donated to a Gardner principal in the 1940s.
