Yale may have prevented accuser from recanting claim that got hoops star expelled

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A female Yale University student whose rape accusation against Jack Montague, a senior and the captain of the men's basketball team, resulted in his expulsion last month reportedly told a friend she wanted to recant the claim but wasn't allowed to take it back.

The potential bombshell report, published late Thursday in the U.K. by the Daily Mail newspaper, is the latest in a saga that has already seen Montague issue a statement through his Boston-based lawyer in which he vowed to sue the Ivy League institution over a procedure he claims was "wrong, unfairly determined and arbitrary."

BOSTON – Despite their political differences, Republican Gov. Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh have worked closely together on a number of successful projects, such as convincing industrial giant General Electric to relocate to the city. But they've also been teased about their camaraderie – to the point of media references to a "bromance" between them.

Picking up on that theme, Kris Carter, the co-chair of the mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics and the creator of dozens of videos for the city's YouTube.com channel, produced one that spoofs the two leaders' delicate but friendly relationship, transforming British artist Adele's song "Hello" to "Hello Gov, it's Marty." He apparently had the mayor's full cooperation in making the video, which was shown during the South Boston St. Patrick's Day Breakfast at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center Sunday.
