Vermont Soon To Be Only State Never To Send Woman To Congress

No woman has ever been elected or appointed to the U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives from the state of Vermont.

Mississippi's governor recently appointed a woman to take the place of retiring U.S. Senator Thad Cochrane. When the appointment takes effect April 1, Vermont will be the last state never to have been represented in Congress by a woman.
