Vermont Newspaper Fires Editor for Opposing ‘Third Gender’ Pronouns

Denis Finley was fired as editor of The Burlington Free Press for tweets that "failed to adhere to the company's code of conduct and ethics policy," according to a story in the newspaper. The story doesn't mention any particular tweets, but the one that's getting the most attention responds to a tweet that called a bill that in the Vermont legislature that would add a "third gender" pronoun to Vermont driver's licenses "awesome":

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has nominated as chief justice of the state supreme court a homosexual man who current sits on the court. A Republican candidate for governor is criticizing the choice, saying that the judge, Andrew McDonald, frequently disregards the constitution in rulings, and noting that as a state senator in 2009 McDonald sponsored a bill that would have stripped bishops and pastors from financial control of Roman Catholic parishes; a Democratic state representative says criticisms of McDonald are rooted in bigotry.
