Vermont Republican Governor Phil Scott now knows who his opponent will be this upcoming November.
First elected in 2016, Scott, who seeks a third two-year term as governor of the Green Mountain state, will be running against Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, a Democrat who is also the nominee of the state's Progressive Party.
Former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General Dave Cavell is no longer seeking to success U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III in Congress.
Cavell put out a press release on Thursday morning announcing that he would be suspending his campaign and endorsing Brookline selectman Jesse Mermell, a former adviser to then-Governor Deval Patrick.
