Vermont Governor A ‘Sellout Bastard,’ Says Gun Advocate

Vermont Governor Phil Scott is getting an earful from gun-rights advocates wherever he goes, to the point where he carries copies of a fact sheet about gun-control bills he recently signed and an affidavit describing a near-miss school shooting in the town of Fair Haven.

Scott, a Republican, told gun-rights supporters he wouldn't sign any gun-control laws when he was campaigning in 2016. He acknowledges that has changed his position in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida and the subsequent near-miss in Vermont.

Minorities and people with drug arrests are supposed to have "economic empowerment" priority when it comes to getting licenses to sell recreational marijuana under the new Massachusetts state law, but local officials often ignore that, say applicants.
