Trump Tax Cut Leads Eversource To Reduce Planned Rate Increase

The reduction in the federal corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent reduces the utility company's expenses, so the company is seeking approval from government regulators for less of a rate increase in western Massachusetts than it previously wanted. A spokesman for the company says eastern Massachusetts may see even more of a reduction in the proposed increase.

Speed Limit Reduced To 40 Miles Per Hour on Parts of Mass. Pike During Storm

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation on Thursday morning reduced the speed limit to 40 miles per hour on parts of the Massachusetts Turnpike during the major snowstorm under way in central and western Massachusetts. State transportation officials may extend the speed limit reduction to the whole Pike as the storm moves eastward on Thursday.
