Trump Pardons Pro-Lifers Who Blockaded Abortion Facilities, Saying ‘This Is A Great Honor To Sign This’

What Has He Done Today

President Donald Trump signed pardons for pro-lifers convicted of blockading abortion facilities on Thursday afternoon.

The pardons will lead to the release from prison of several of them.

“Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted. This is a great honor to sign this,” Trump said during a signing ceremony at the White House.

The Thomas More Society, a conservative nonprofit law firm, said last week that it asked the incoming Trump administration to pardon 21 pro-lifers who according to federal prosecutors blockaded or conspired to blockade abortion facilities in several places, including in Washington D.C., Tennessee, and Michigan.

The pro-lifers were convicted of violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1993.

The pardons had not been posted on the White House web site as of 5 p.m. Eastern time Thursday.
