Trump made ‘textbook’ racist remark about judge, Ryan says

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump's comments about a U.S.-born judge of Mexican heritage are the "textbook definition of a racist comment," U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday. Later in the day, Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said his remarks have been "misconstrued" and he is justified in questioning the fairness of legal proceedings overseen by the jurist in San Diego.
Ryan, the highest elected GOP official, told reporters that "claiming a person can't do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment. I think that should be absolutely disavowed. It's absolutely unacceptable."
