Trump Government Shutdown Hurting Whales

Endangered right whales haven't been dying lately, but that might change because there's no one from the federal government to count them, according to environmentalists.

The partial shutdown of the federal government led to furloughing of employees of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, so the agency's whale count program has been suspended, according to an Associated Press story published in the Hampshire Daily Gazette, which covers Northampton, Massachusetts.

Police raided four homes in eastern Massachusetts where they say marijuana plants were being illegally grown for a drug trafficking enterprise.

Three people are expected to face charges in connection with the raids, which took place at one home in Braintree, two homes in Quincy, and one home in Westford, according to the Lowell Sun.
