Trump Found National Cathedral Service 'Not Too Exciting'

Where Is He Today:

The White House had not yet released the president’s schedule as of 5 a.m. Eastern time Wednesday, January 22, 2025.  This item may be updated.

What Happened Yesterday:

President Donald Trump attended a service at Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, during which the Episcopal bishop of Washington, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, asked Trump “to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared right now” – including, she said, “gay, lesbian, and transgender children” and illegal immigrants.  (A transcript of her remarks is available here.)

Trump responded briefly in answer to a reporter’s question outside the cathedral about what he thought of the service:

“Not too exciting, was it? I didn’t think it was a good service. … They can do much better.”
