Town Wants $7,000 Fireworks License Renewal Fee

Town officials in Seabrook, New Hampshire, which is on the Massachusetts border, are using a fireworks explosion in 1982 to justify the $7,000 license renewal fee. Owners of fireworks businesses want a judge to rule that the fee is too high.

Newly publicized email messages show that the New Orleans mayor's office contacted documentary maker Ken Burns, best known for The Civil War, to enlist his public support for removing statues of Confederates shortly before a city council vote in December 2015. The city council voted 6-1 to remove them, and the monuments were removed.
