Tiny homes are roughly 200 square feet and have no connection to sewer, water, or electricity, instead designed with a composting toilet and rain barrels to provide water. Some people want to live in them because they cost less than $25,000 and can be put in someone else's back yard; but the state building code in Massachusetts doesn't allow them.

Boston To Whack Airbnb Hosts?

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has filed a proposed ordinance with the City Council that would require Airbnb hosts in Boston to register with the city and would require them to pay a yearly fee. City officials say the short-term rental business is allowing some property owners to operate de facto hotels without paying hotel taxes; supporters of Airbnb point to cheaper and more convenient lodgings for visitors and investment opportunities for property owners.
