Syria: 150 mines removed so far in Palmyra’s ancient site

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — A Syrian antiquities official says demining experts have so far removed 150 bombs planted by the Islamic State group inside the archaeological site in the historic town of Palmyra.

Syria's head of antiquities and museums, Maamoun Abdul-Karim, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that a technical team has returned to Damascus after a two-day work in Palmyra.

Pro-life governor signs bill requiring abortion anesthesia

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The governor signed a bill Monday that makes Utah the first state to require doctors to give anesthesia to women having an abortion at 20 weeks of pregnancy or later.

The bill signed by Republican Gov. Gary Herbert is based on the disputed premise that a fetus can feel pain at that point.
