Springfield Casino Missing Revenue Projections By A Lot

The first so-called "resort casino" in Massachusetts is bringing in far less revenue than anticipated, leading operators of two casinos in Connecticut to conclude that it's not as much of a threat as they once thought.

MGM Springfield averaged only about $23 million per month during its first three months of operation, down 34 percent from its projected $34.8 million per month, according to MassLive.com.

Maine's new Democratic governor has decided to pull the state out of a program designed to make poor people who qualify for health insurance from the government through Medicaid to work 80 hours a month.

Governor Janet Mills reversed the course taken by former governor Paul LePage, a Republican, as she has much of the last few weeks since taking over, according to the Bangor Daily News.
