Spotlight on the Boston Globe

It has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster: Big stars. Big budget Hollywood advertising push. Dark, salacious story line. But the new movie, "Spotlight," which chronicles the Globe's revelations of the sexual abuse of children by some Catholic clergy, is also bound to be filled with distortions.

The movie is not due in theaters until November, and, ordinarily, we would not consider it a good idea to write a review without having first seen the film. But, having watched the trailers and lived through the events of 2002, we're pretty sure we know where this movie is going.

Mosque vandalism in Burlington leads to call for hate-crime probe

BURLINGTON – Two local teenagers face charges in connection with damage to a mosque in an early Sunday incident that an Islamic group decried as an example of a rising tide of hate crimes targeting Muslims and their places of worship.

Responding to a 1:45 a.m. call Sunday, police saw that the exterior of the Islamic Center of Burlington had "USA" spray painted on it in multiple places and the remains of several smashed eggs that apparently were thrown at the building, according to a statement from police Chief Michael R. Kent.
