The 60-year-old advocate for the homeless says that U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders's pro-little-guy rhetoric is "wonderful," but that Sanders is a "vicious politician." As mayor of Burlington in the 1980s, Sanders created a homeless shelter that allowed people drunk or on drugs to stay there, which resulted a spike in the city's homeless population, says Jon Svitavsky, who plans to run against Sanders for U.S. Senate in Vermont in 2018.
