Snowmobile Fugitive Gets 18 Months in Bankruptcy Fraud Case

The resident of the northern Massachusetts town of Pepperell rented a snowmobile in Presque Isle, Maine and took back trails into New Brunswick to avoid criminal charges that he stashed $4 million in Canadian banks that he hid from creditors after declaring bankruptcy. He was a fugitive from 2005 to last year.

Massachusetts state Representative Michelle DuBois (D-Brockton) set up a Facebook account to raise money following the local and national outcry in March over her posting on her Facebook page rumors of a forthcoming raid by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance filed a complaint with the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance saying DuBois broke state law by failing to provide donors with a place to put their occupation and employer, and the state agency agreed.
