Seaport hotel developer picked as BRA approves housing projects

Harbinger Development won a key city agency's support to build a 405-room hotel in the city's Seaport District, according to the Boston Redevelopment Authority, which also said it approved two housing projects that will add 128 residential units in Allston and Roxbury.

The hotel, proposed for a site at the Marine Industrial Park where cruise ships dock in South Boston, would be on a site leased from the Economic Development and Industrial Commission, a sister agency to the BRA. Harbinger, based in Wellesley, was given the EDIC's tentative designation as the developer of the project. Harbinger is in talks with Hilton Worldwide to run the hotel, the agency said in a statement.
