Seal Trapped In Pond Busts Out, Flops To Police Station

A seal that got itself trapped in a small pond in Beverly flopped its way to the city's police station in the middle of the night, triggering an overland ride to Connecticut and eventual freedom.

The seal – whom locals took to calling "Shoebert," because it lived for a while in Shoe Pond – apparently swam from the Atlantic Ocean into Beverly Harbor and then up the Bass River and through a culvert into the smaller southern portion of Shoe Pond, which is divided.

Boston Trinity Academy Welcomes New Headmaster, Timothy Belk

On Monday, September 12th, Boston Trinity Academy opened the new school year with its annual Convocation chapel service. And for the first time in 13 years, iconic headmaster and founding trustee Frank Guerra did not lead the service. He, and his wife, Rebekah Guerra, also a founding trustee and later dean of the middle school, retired in June 2022. 

Instead, Boston Trinity Academy's new headmaster, Timothy Belk, opened the Convocation service by welcoming the 235 students at the grades-6-through-12 independent Christian prep school on its 4.5-acre Hyde Park campus as well as its Convocation keynote speaker, Reverend Eugene Rivers III.
