Scott Lively Topping 30 Percent in GOP Governor Primary Against Charlie Baker

Scott Lively, a conservative Protestant pastor, was polling at more than 35 percent against Governor Charlie Baker in the Republican primary early Wednesday morning, with 90 percent of the vote reported.

Boston city councilor Ayanna Pressley upended liberal U.S. Representative Michael Capuana (D-Somerville) with an appeal to racial identity politics and a promise to try to abolish the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Pressley beat the 10-term congressman 59-41 percent in the Seventh Congressional District on Tuesday. She is now the presumptive next member of Congress from the district, since there is no Republican challenger in the general election in November.
