Rhode Island Swears In New Governor

Rhode Island has a new governor.
The United States Senate confirmed former Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo for her role as the U.S. Commerce Secretary under President Joe Biden 84-15, so she resigned her office as governor of the state to take that role. Her replacement is Democrat Dan McKee, who had served as the state's lieutenant governor since 2015. McKee is set to serve out the final 22 months of Raimondo's term.
