The cost of butter has doubled for the owner of two chocolate shops west of Boston, leading to increases in costs between 19 and 35 percent.
Jules Remenar, owner of Dulce D Leche in Framingham and Ashland, told The MetroWest Daily News that butter used to cost him $75 to $80 a case, but now costs $150 to $160 a case. A case used to cost him $150 to $160 to make, but now costs $260 to $280 a case – and can go as high as $350.
