Pro-Life Conservative Unseats Moderate Republican State Representative; Victory Likely In November

A pro-life conservative unseated an incumbent Republican state representative in Massachusetts this week.

Carver planning board member and Coast Guard Veteran John Gaskey defeated state representative Susan Gifford (R-Wareham) in the Second Plymouth District Republican primary on Tuesday, September 3. No Democrat is on the ballot in the November general election, meaning Gaskey will most likely become a state representative next year.

John Deaton Wins Masssachusets GOP U.S. Senate Primary In A Landslide

Attorney John Deaton of Swansea cruised to victory in the Massachusetts Republican primary for U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

Deaton had 64.6 percent of the vote with 92 percent of the vote counted, according to the Associated Press. This gave him a substantial lead over Robert Antonellis of Somerville (26.2 percent) and Quincy City Council president Ian Cain.
