Pro-Columbus Day Rally Cancelled in Bangor

The rally organizer cancelled the event, but a few people showed up for and against, including a protester who called Columbus "a genocidal maniac." Bangor is among several Maine municipalities that now calls Columbus Day "Indigenous Peoples' Day"; the fair and balanced news story compares the planned pro-Columbus Day rally with the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in August.

Maine Governor’s Wife Said To Be Considering Run for U.S. Senate

Ann LePage, the wife of Maine Governor Paul LePage, a Republican Trump supporter, is reportedly being urged to run against U.S. Senator Angus King, a liberal independent who sides with the Democrats, in 2018. Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon of Breitbart is encouraging her to run, according to The New York Times, although Mrs. LePage apparently doesn't like politics and last year took a job as a waitress.
