Opposition To Activist Judge Stems from Anti-Homosexual Bigotry, State Rep Says
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has nominated as chief justice of the state supreme court a homosexual man who current sits on the court. A Republican candidate for governor is criticizing the choice, saying that the judge, Andrew McDonald, frequently disregards the constitution in rulings, and noting that as a state senator in 2009 McDonald sponsored a bill that would have stripped bishops and pastors from financial control of Roman Catholic parishes; a Democratic state representative says criticisms of McDonald are rooted in bigotry.
