Obama plans Castro meeting during historic Cuba trip

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama said Thursday he'll raise human rights issues and other U.S. concerns with Cuban President Raul Castro during a history-making visit to the communist island nation.

The brief visit in mid-March will mark a watershed moment in relations between the U.S. and Cuba, making Obama the first sitting U.S. president to set foot on the island in nearly seven decades. While in the country, Obama plans to meet with groups advocating for change in Cuba, a condition the president had laid out publicly for such a trip.

"A Heart for Freedom" essentially tells two stories. On one hand, it is author Chai Ling's account of her role as commander-in-chief of the spring-summer 1989 Tiananmen Square student protests. On the other hand, the book relates Chai's conversion to Christianity and her 2010 founding of All Girls Allowed – an organization dedicated to eliminating China's one-child policy and restoring life, dignity, hope and justice to the nation's oppressed girls, women and unborn children.
