The city of Northampton has gotten a perfect score of 100 from the pro-homosexuality and pro-transgenderism Human Rights Campaign.
The city government got points for providing services to transgender people, having a liaison with the city's police department on how police deal with homosexuals and transgender people, protecting youth from conversion therapy, providing domestic partner benefits for same-sex couples, having elected or appointed homosexual or transgender city officials, and reporting hate crimes statistics to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, among other things, according to the organization's Municipal Equality Index.
Mainstream media outlets typically don't tell their readers where their writers and editors stand politically. (Unlike NewBostonPost, which says "The hub of conservative thought" at the top of the web site.) Some outlets present themselves as impartial.
