More than 9,500 people have signed onto a Change.org petition saying the city should not allow it to happen. Instead, they want to stop a new store called Newton Firearms before it opens.
Back in early March, a Melrose resident filed to run for governor of Massachusetts.
On Monday this week, however, he changed the purpose of his campaign account, according to the Massachusetts Office of Political Campaign and Finance. Now, Democrat Scott Donohue plans to run for lieutenant governor instead. That makes him the first Democrat to file to run for the position.
